In a career spanning five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. In the process, he has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin, Barbara Hendricks, Bill Cosby, Bobby McFerrin, Sly Dunbar, and Robbie Shakespeare, among others. Alexander celebrated his 70th birthday this year with the release of Harlem-Kingston Express Vol. 2: The River Rolls On, a follow-up to his Grammy® Award-nominated 2012 album Harlem Kingston Express: Live! He is joined by his trio consisting of bassist Hassan Shakur and drummer Dennis Mackrel.

“…an effervescent pianist and one of Jamaica’s proudest
