The Jazz Passengers

The witty and boisterous boppers, The Jazz Passengers, have reunited for their first album in 12 years, appropriately named Reunited and featuring a cover of the 1979 No. 1 hit of the same name by Peaches and Herb. Emerging from the ashes of John Lurie’s The Lounge Lizards, saxophonist Roy Nathanson and trombonist Curtis Fowlkes formed what would become the backbone of the ever-changing lineup of The Jazz Passengers. Their deftly titled band name is a spin-off of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and is a representation of their almost Frank Zappa-like satire.
“Picking up where they left off, this vivacious studio session juxtaposes mellifluous crooning, adventurous post-bop and stylistic eclecticism with irrepressible charm and sophisticated humor.” – All About Jazz
